Let there be light….

and heat, and electricity….sigh.  Wed was interesting.  My kids, like most in the Milwaukee & Waukesha county had a snow day.  I was ready!  We were going to sleep in, lay around in jammies, maybe watch a Harry Potter marathon and just have fun.  Around 5 am my husband, who unfortunately could not sleep in….work beckoned, woke me up to tell me the power was out.  Sigh…. thankfully I had just put fresh candles in all my holders the day before when my friends were over for lunch.  Thank you PartyLite!!!  We went around and lit candles all around so we could see.  A bit later Paul left for work.  I tried to go back to bed. I am the type of person, that once I am up, I am usually up.  I have to be very tired to be able to fall back asleep.  Well, I must have been really sleepy because I did fall back asleep, only to wake up to the sound of all 4 of my boys in my room.  Sigh….so the day began.  I was ok, until they wanted me to make breakfast….then it hit me.  We had NO POWER!!!  No stove, no oven, no computer, NO TV or DVD player……aaaahhhhh….what the heck was i going to do with them all day????  Surprisingly they were not as bad as I thought they would be.  In fact, they helped me find Christmas tubs in the basement with flashlights and we put up decorations around the house and on our tree.  My parents came in the afternoon and took us to lunch.  All and all it wasn’t a bad day and I learned that I don’t need fancy  and movies to entertain my kids and make them happy.  All they really want is my time and attention, and hey, I can afford that right?
